Its basically the feel that the music gives that counts most. If its meant to convey a message, words does count. Its much like speech. The tone conveys the feeling and words gives the meaning. A good song combines both factors right. A good example maybe "Words" from Beegees.

THe music is more important. THough the words are in another language they can embody strength in the they are sung... but the music holds it all together with rhythm and melody.

I think that both are very important; sure you can be with or without the one but both of them together blends in nicely and lets the music be more enjoyable, what it was intended to be.

i think the words always grab my attention more,,,the music has to compliment it,,, but then again a song without words would be called an instrumental
