CREATE GOOD:
Usually increases the living standard of the nearby area, because casinos do not like to operate in run down locations.

Creates jobs in the casinos and in the construction business... and nearby businesses like gift shops, gas stations, and restaurants

Helps Native People improve their living standard and education. The Indians living on reservations are among the poorest in the country and need help.

CREATE HARM

Can harm people who can least afford to lose money, by giving compulsive gamblers easy access to gambling.

The Native peoples do not benefit as much as they should, because greedy tribal leaders manipulate the funds to make sure that only their tribe benefits, and the other (needier) tribes get nothing.

So... pick your side and debate.

Harm!

Casinos make money. How? By people loosing money in the slots and at tables.

It is not only the rich who gamble. The poor, those who can afford it least, loose money too. Many have lost homes, cars, savings etc at casinos - trying to make it rich.

Go to a casino with $1000.00 and gamble with it, pocket the winnings. On average you will come out with $600.00 MAX.

Problems? Suicide over losses; theft from employers and others to pay for gambling losses; poverty in families where losses have occured; family breakup etc.

Benifits? MAYBE the casino may put a SMALL percentage of winnings back into the community (more likely to engage in criminal activity to recover bad debts). Some employment, to run the casino. Attract tourism to an area - not desirable types though - people who prey on the vulnerable gamblers etc.

You guessed it, I hate casinos and the problems they cause - as would any decent human who has seen thje results of gambling when it gets out of control.

Gambling in casino will cause more harm than good as this will cause social problems. One will get addicted to gambling and when they run out of money, they will resolve to crimes like theft...They might even have problems with their family members as they give up hope on them.Children might even pick up gambling skills from people who gamble and this affects the growth process of a child.People who gambles will not be able to concentrate on their studies and work.

Personally, I enjoy visiting the casinos. But, I'm an old man who knows how to gamble responsibly. So for some people they cause harm, for other people they are morally wrong, and for others they are a form of entertainment.

Thus, it becomes a matter of opinion... and an opinion is like a rear end: Everybody has one, and most of them stink!
