No. I am 56 and have thought this out very carefully. I have (for a start) the male chromosomes, I do not have the female cycle, etc. So why should I feel like a woman trapped inside a man's body? What do i want? Feminists would say 'Well, I just want to wear pretty dresses' etc. Is that what I want? What I really want is the impossible - a vagina, a womb, a man who will **** me so that I concieve, etc. It will never happen. I can't have a womb, a clitoris, etc. All I can do is have a 'sex change' and make myself up and fall in love with my own image. That's all. I can be very pretty and go on TV but everyone will know that I am really a man. Just look at Jan Morris.

The simple answer to a complicated question, YES. I'm a 49 y/o male to female transsexual. I knew from the age of 5 I should have been born female, however that was 1963, at that time very little was known about transsexualism and such a subject would never be spoken in a "christian" home. There is some research showing T/s'ism is genetic but much more research needs to be done to prove it. I personally do not need scientific evidence to know its real, I've lived it my whole life. If you are questioning your gender identity I suggest you look deep inside yourself for the answer, be honest with yourself, if at that point you feel you should have been born female find a therapist with experience with gender identity, be honest with the therapist, its your money your spending there. Transition can be the most painful experience of your life but also the most rewarding, be ready to be rejected by family and friends as it may happen, or if your lucky they will support you emotionally in your transition as mine has for the most part. Find a good support system as you will need it. To me personally I'm not a woman trapped inside a male body, but a woman who was born with a serious birth defect that is now being corrected. Be ready to spend Thousands of Dollars if you do transition, electrolysis, hormones, therapy, facial feminization surgery, gender reasignment surgery, a small price to pay really though to be who you really are. Good luck to you.

I'm a gay male, and I feel all male. I wouldn't want to be a straight woman, because then I couldn't revel in being within the body of the sex that turns me on. I can turn myself on and I wouldn't have it any other way (when I look at myself in the mirror when wearing shorts, I sometimes get turned on -- I like legs).
I think many wrongly assume all gay males have a pseudo-female identity and suffer from gender confusion. Some do feel more female, and there's nothing wrong with that, but a lot of us are very happy to be males who like males.

I often feel like a gay man trapped in a woman's body. But it hasn't interfered with my life too much.

No, can't say I do, I like my male body, but I also like to dress-up as a woman.
