The universe is a very big place indeed. I was sat down having a chat last night with my dad and we both agreed that we as humans are nothing in the universe. If you got in a rocket and went straight up and just carried on going (with endless fuel) then the earth would just be a spec of dust in a big wide open space filled with planets and stars. Thing is the universe is a very very VERY big place indeed. Who's to decide that there is no other life out there? The world is a big place and is filled with humans, animals, plants, germs ect, ect, ect. What makes the universe any different to earth? Surely there must be some other life form out there. I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts and veiws on the subject.

Most people assume that humans are the only intelligent life in the universe because there is no actual evidence of any other form of intelligent life. All the other planets in the solar system are either completely barren or do a really good impression of lifeless rocks.

The universe IS a very big place, and it certainly could be that there is, has been, or will be independently-developed intelligent life elsewhere. But with no evidence of such, and the incoming evidence continuing to show nothing but lifeless matter beyond Earth, it doesn't make sense to just assume that intelligent alien life does/did/will exist. It COULD, it's just unwise to jump to that conclusion.

I simply can't fathom the idea that humans are the most advanced creature in the universe. It's simply too large and there's too little that we know to solidly conclude without hesitation that there's no other intelligent life in the universe.
Our knowlege of the scope of the universe is nothing. To even equate our planet to one grain of sand in a beach is to still laregly underestimate the apparent size of this realm in which we live.
Our understanding of our own Solar System, let alone the entire universe, is so insignifigant as to form any sound conclusions that Earth is the only vessel of life in the entire universe, and this kind of thought could only be the egotistical pipe dream of creationists who want to believe that the Earth is special in that it's the only area inhabited by intelligent life in the entire universe.

We are the stupidest! If we were the least bit intelligent we would be able to control our populations, we could do with a few billion less. In turn the planet would be a much cleaner place and we'd not be in the state we are in. We are not only the stupidest animal on the planet, we are also the ugliest. by the time god got around to making us he had run out of feathers, fur, and not enough hair to go round.

You can assess the probability of life elsewhere in the Universe but you can't know for sure. The size of the Universe is irrelevant; as far as we can possibly ascertain we are the only self-aware life form. Unfortunately, we are the most intelligent, but it looks like we aren't intelligent enough.

We are the most intelligent life form that we have so far encountered in the Universe. The honest answer would be to admit that we just don't have enough evidence, but until we have evidence that we are not alone in the universe we cannot make judgements about who / what may be out there.

Because most people believe there's a God or some sort of central intelligence to life, that we're not all just "floating around", that some things are meant to be, and there's some kind of rhyme and reason to why we're here. That life isn't just pointless.

We have setup equipments worth billions to detect the intelligent life forms we believe who have accurate, fast, supernatural IQ than ours, we agreed to the dolphin having a good intelligence, experiment with monkeys brought about HIV, it was time to move on, and we again diiscovered a new generation amongst ourselves, the indigo children & the crystal children; known to be more intelligent than the past generations.

Our wisdom doesnt allow us to ponder beyond, whats on our doorstep as its on our doorstep is what we will see and deal with, with time as our environment matures, we might encounter with someone with higher intelligence, until then.. way to go einstein!

no one person has yet decided that life is solely the human exsistance, collectively we strive to advance our understanding of that exsistance within the universe. it is the nature of humans to believe in another planet within the billions of worlds that scatter our known limited knowledge that would support life as we understand life, what is perplexing is why we have had no response to all the millions of different types of messages sent from this small speck of dust. definitive proof of another type of life that is intelligent enough to communicate with us, as we are trying to communicate with them has not yet been possible to achieve, that does not mean they do not exsist,we may be looking up when we should be looking down, how on earth do we expect to communicate with an other life form when we cannot yet communicate with the lifeforms we share our world with.
It is my belief that we evolved from the lifeforms that we share our world with, yet we cannot communicate with them, it is in our nature to ask,to explore,to stretch our understanding of our exsistance, but we should endevour to look to our own world for the answer. LF

Only very arrogant people think that we are the only ones and the best. I most definitely believe there is life out there.
Remember, in life don´t get too caught up by what others think, it´s more important what you think and decide.
