Ok well for the last 2weeks i've been doing heaps of exercise ( walking like 2hours a day), eatting pretty well.

I went to weigh myself today, for the first time since I had started exercising and eatting better and i had actually PUT ON weight!

My period is due today (if that has anything to do with it)

Why the hell has this happened? It absoultly guttered me, I was upset because I've been working so hard and this just makes me want to give up.

Thanks! The gold stars put a smile on my face :) [One ov my friends use to say that to me when i lived in Australia]

I was watching Oprah and she said not to weigh yourself all the time just after the first week because thats when you lose the most weight

Well, you may have gained a few pounds of water weight, due to your period. If so, it will shift off after a couple of days. You could also have build some muscle mass, which will weigh more than the fat it displaced/replaced. What you should be monitoring, in addition to your weight, is your size and measurements. You can quite possibly lose inches and gain a few pounds, or lose inches and not weight. You might also see if you can get a body fat measurment done. If you have around 20 percent body fat, as a female your body will not want to lose much in the fat department and it will be hard to lose weight. Females need a certain percentage of body fat for healthy functions and to be able to carry a healthy pregnancy. Even if you don't plan on a pregnancy in the near future, your body doesn't know that and will always try to stay prepared. It's fighting nature to try to lose much more than that. Don't give up the good nutrition and working out, and don't lose heart. Get out that measuring tape, or try on your skinny pants, and see if things aren't changing how they fit. As long as you lose inches, feel good, and are doing the right things, what the scale says doesn't matter!

Your period is probably part of the reason, but I recommend weighing yourself after your period ends just to see.
You can put on put on weight from exercise, as your body is making muscle to keep up with all the exercise. Usually yuo gain a few inches around the upper arm, thighs, etc. Your body is reacting to the amount of pressure and energy your'e putting on it by giving you more power to keep on going.

Exercise=need more calories to keep up with all the physical things you've been doing.
Might want to try eating lean meat, and more fish and veggies instead of what you usually eat.

Also pre-menstrual symptoms do include water retention.

When you exercise you get rid of the fat, and gain muscle, and muscle actually ways more than fat!
