Yeah I wanna do ballet, and I have everything you need:
-determination/motivation
-strong legs
-fit

But I'm 14. I'm not sure at the moment if I want it as a career but yeah. Then theres the problem of having to work with younger kids, I don't mind 12yrs up but yeah, can you imagine the concerts??? Also how long will it take to get to pointe?

Please help! :)

of course you should definitely start ballet, i'm sixteen and just started this year its great, my studio offers teen classes so i don't feel like the oldest person, also if you have experience in other areas you'll catch on fast and you may even be able to start pointe next fall or so if you build up enough technique this year, go for it!

Hey you can definately start ballet at 14! Obviously, you will have to work really hard, but you might have a slight disadvantage with some of the other girls who have been dancing since they were three...If you have determination, strong legs and you're fit, just like you say, then go for it. I've know some people who started doing ballet at the age of 20, but they worked hard and are quite reasonable dancers now. So yeah, if you were thinking of turning professional, you probably just have to work really hard :) Pointe work is usually allowed to be done when you have enough experience in ballet and have strong ankles and feet. It could take up to 3 or 4 years for an inexperienced dancer. But in saying that, depending on your progress, it could take as little as a year. So good luck and I hope this information helps you to become a great ballerina! :)

you will have to work hard to get on pointes but you seem to be extremely determined to do this and i cant see any reason why you shouldn't. I started ballet at the age of 3 and I was on pointes when I was almost 12. Obviously though as you are beginning at an older age you may be able to grasp the ideas and skills much quicker than I could as a toddler so with a great deal of practice you could be on pointes in as little as 2 years! It is a beautiful art and I wish more people were as passionate about it as you seem. good luck doll x

It's never too late to do something you enjoy. Talk to the teachers. Maybe they have adult classes you can get in on?
It doesn't have to be competitive, ballet is a great way to work off stress, get in wicked shape, and enjoy yourself.

I sure they would have a class for all levels of girls around your age.
Ask around and find one that you can go to, if you done other dancing before you might not have to start at the beginning.

well it kidna depends on what school (dance school) you wanna go to...cos some may be willing to let you start but some might not. Personally i dnt see any problem if youve already had training in similar dance just go along to your nearest dance school and ask

If you are truly good enough, then no one can stop you, regardless of age
