Even if you're not stressed it's usually your thoughts that do keep you awake. Maybe not that consciously but then subconsciously. Things you have to do the next day or things you have forgotten this day, even old memories can play a part.
Anyway, even when you don't know what costs your lack of sleep there are still things you can do.
To clear my head before I go to sleep I need to be tired before I'll get in. Exercise helps me. Go running in the beginning of the evening or some other sport. Yoga really helped me. Also read a nice book that fascinates you before sleeping, just for half an hour or so. That way your head is distracted from whatever thoughts that could keep you awake and your body is tired enough to sleep.
Hope this helps!

I have insomnia and am managing it well recently since I've cut out all caffiene after 2 in the afternoon.
Also, if you can't sleep, don't force it. Skip a night of sleep and stay up until normal bedtime the next night and go to sleep. It should be much easier to fall asleep and it'll set you back on a normal schedule, which is important.

1. You may want to try eliminating caffeine from your diet for a few weeks. Caffeine can stay in your system for up to 24 hours , keeping you "wired" and unable to sleep.
2. Use your bed for sleep only. If you read or watch TV in bed, you are acclimatizing your body to those activities instead of resting.
3. Make sure you room is dark and quiet so that your internal clock knows that it is nighttime and therefor time to sleep.

Anxiety and depression can be very harmful to getting a good nights sleep. Sometimes a good nights sleep will be had if you have a warm glass of milk before going to bed.
The basic thing to do is to relax for about an hour before you go to bed. Then tuck in and..... ZZZZZzzzzzz
If the problem persists, see your physician.

Well, I've never had a problem with sleep before. I guess when I start working, everything will come down on me like it does everybody else.
