That is a tough question, I have contemplated it a lot and the most famous people of the bible that commited suicide was Sampson and Judas. I have read someplace that six suicides are accounted for in the bible.

I think it really depends on a state of mind. I mean the biggest arguement you hear is that you commit a sin and die without repenting. How often does this happen? What if someone is driving a car and it goes off the cliff and in fear the curse the lords name or became irate a few minutes ago when someone commited road rage?

So many have commited suicide, people who were religious, scholars, teachers, and artists, and most have some type of mental disease. This is not something that they do on a whim, it is something that plagues them for a long time. Now with so many anti depressents out there, what happens if someone is forced to stop taking them because they lose their job or their insurance stops carrying them. Are they going to spend eternity in hell because they could no longer afford their medication?

I personally do not think someone who commits suicide is going to hell. I believe there are only 3 unpardonable sins, blasphemy of the holy spirit, not accepting Christ, and taking the mark of the beast during the tribulation period. If that person accepted Christ and finds life too difficult and later commits sucide, I believe they will be up there with Sampson who also commited suicide and he is one of the biggest heros of the Bible.

I just hope if someone contemplates suicide, they must remember that life does have its ups and downs. Eventually you will be back on your feet and spend time in prayer asking God to give you the strenght to continue. Even when family and friends are too busy to see the signs.

You won't go to hell or anywhere if you commit suicide except into eternal darkness from which you will never awake. Suicide is not the way out. I know because I have had experience with this form of shutting off life. Not with myself but with others who have been very near to me. It is not the answer. The answer is to search and find a way to begin to enjoy your life. It is your life and you will only have it once and then it is over. Don't throw it away because you are depressed or disgusted. Things change in life. They never remain the same. If you are unhappy now it is conceivable that in 6-7 months you will feel different about life. All it takes sometime is one event that can turn things around for you. You must be open for it. Try hard to get those thoughts of suicide out of your head and concentrate on worthy thoughts.

My friend, It doesn't matter whether you'll go to heaven or hell...I want to know why you're asking that question. I hope that you aren't considering suicide.....If so, I am sure that there are people in your life that would be terribly sad if you left, and for them, they would be experiencing hell on earth. Please don't do anything rash. I wanted to kill myself once, a long time ago. I couldn't conceive how happy I would be one day, and I am happy!! I have a beautiful granddaughter that lights up my world. I'm so grateful I didn't do anything crazy. Talk to someone who loves you.

It depends.

Catholics believe suicide when committed in full knowledge and deliberate consent is a complete turning away from God (a mortal sin) and will send a person to hell.

There are 3 conditions of a mortal sin: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent.

While suicide (or any kind of murder) is always a grave matter, people who commit suicide may not always have full knowledge of what they're doing. Drugs can definitely impair one's thinking, as can other things, such as diseases, intense pain, or anguish.

Therefore, suicide is not automatically treated as a mortal sin.

We are commanded by Christ not to judge others so we leave final judgment to God who alone knows each person's heart.

With love in Christ.

No one knows for sure. It all depends on what you believe. I happen to believe that dead is dead, no afterlife. But if you do commit suicide, you'll cause a great deal of suffering to those who love you.

By the way, why would you ask this in Psychology instead of religion and spirituality or philosophy?

If you die without believing that Jesus shed blood paid for your sin debt in full then yes you will go to hell. I believe that committing suicide won't send you to hell but if you do so not believing in Jesus then you will. If you desire to kill yourself I would seriously think about first praying about it and asking God to help you through your trouble or your situation. God does answer prayer and He will answer yours:) Best wishes!

Everyone has different opinions but you shouldn't.

"It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."

"You have a lot to live for."

"You were born for a reason."

All these things are great cliches...and very very true. Plus it is pretty selfish, no matter what happens to YOU, you leave behind a lot of questions and sorrow and unfinished business. SOMEONE LOVES YOU and would help if they knew.

If you think you are going to hurt yourself please tell someone! And make sure that they know you shouldn't be alone. It really is a horrible idea.

Why would it matter you will be dead. No one really knows what will happen when you die, there is only one way to find out.
