In the long run piracy will have bad effect on entertainment industry but sometimes piracy helps the middle class people who cannot afford high priced audio cds. e.g music lovers can get lot number of music in mp3(150-200) unlike in original audio cds where there is maximum of 10-15 songs. and mp3s are much cheaper than audio cds. In pirated dvds we get 3-4 movies while in original we get only one movie and that too at higher cost.

Any criminal activity is bad.. While pirated copies can bring popularity to an artist among people that won't usually by his or her work the whole process will corrupt those taking part in it and those around them.
It's not worth it
