I have a wireless router that connects to a DSL modem at home. I usually use my laptop to access the wireless router and it's been fine up til a week ago. My connection is great, but it's saying I have limited or no connection, and the reason is because it can't find my IP address. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing??? How can I resolve this?

If you are online with this computer and asked this question. The Internet sees some type of IP address. It would be impossible for you to not be online without it. You may have it blocked by (Network Address Translation) but you have a physical address for your NIC card. Go to that link if you don't believe me, your IP will show up though trust me.

Give this a shot...Go to your router, disconnect and reconnect the power adapter. It will take a few seconds and your connection should be found.

Also, keep in mind your wireless transmission is in the 2.4 ghz range, the same as many cordless phones. This may interfere with your router. You may also wish to change channels on your router.

call up your provider and ask them how to bridge your modem. this is usally the problem. you are trying to reach the internet throught your modem when it should be trying to get acess through your router. try hooking directly to your modem before finding out to bridge the modem. direct cable is how you do this. it is very possible that being your connection was fine that your wireless card went out on you... can you acess the net anyother way with this router??

you could have disabled the dns service. i mean the dhcp service.

also you could have installed something that messes up with the internet connection like ... new dot net... check the uninstall programs in the control panel(add remove programs) check if there is the newdotnet program... it has a blue icon... also try uninstalling new programs like file sharing and screensavers... which usually include some kind of spyware.
