1. RSS probably stands for Really Simple Syndication, there is some debate. It is basically an XML document that contains the information itself (news or updates, or anything really) and tells your browser how to display it and where it's from. So the website format the article as an rss feed, you enter the address of the rss feed (like a web page address) and your browser will update it at regular intervals.
The beauty is that no one has to write the separate xml format, it can be converted by a script and updated without human intervention- in theory.

2. Hit CTRl+ALT+Delete keys at the same time. Click the lock my computer button. Alternately, you can password protect your screen saver and set it to activate after 5 minutes or something.

3. You can use Task Scheduler to shut down your system. There used to be programs for windows to do that, but it has been a long time since I have seen any.
You can try this, but I have NOT checked it out, myself.

1. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are files used to distribute or share your content with others. For example, there is website : http://ankurjain.org. If you wish to view its content, you need to access it and read the content online at the website. But if you use the RSS feed of this website (http://ankurjain.org/feed/) you can view the contents on your computer using a software or any other web-based program like Google Reader. So, if there are 5 sites, you frequently visit, you can use their RSS Feeds and read them all in one place, instead of accessing them individually.

2. Disable Fast User Switching(http://www.petri.co.il/disable_fast_user_switching_in_xp_pro.htm). Lock your computer by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete -> Lock computer.

3. For scheduling your machine to shut down automatically, Go to Control Panel -> Scheduled Tasks -> Add scheduled task -> Next -> Browse (Select C:\Windows\system32\shutdown.exe) -> Check Daily/Weekly as you want -> Start Timing -> Enter Administrator Password -> Finish. You can test the Task later by right-clicking and select Run.

1] RSS users can have constantly updated content from web sites delivered to them via a news aggregator, a piece of software specifically tailored to receive these types of feeds. The best way to try it is to explore some RSS links.

2] Windows key + L

3] See this tutorial : http://www.winxptutor.com/schsd.htm

Hope this helps.

PS For No 2, I presume you have passworded your user name. If not, do so!
