would a good d-1 college accept a defensive end at only 5'10? is it a must that you have to be taller or a certain height to play an end in college?

No.. just have game... speed... desire... and heart. And... be football smart. Know when you need to use your speed and know when you have to nut up and use your power to help team play. 5'10" can grow... but you must have speed and power and terrorize your high school opponents to be noticed. 5'10" can move from a high school end to a outside linebacker if you know how to play the game. Size does matter... but moreso the player matters most.

Good question, I hope i'm not wasting your time ! but if you don't get picked up, consider coming to Sydney Australia to play American Football (no i'm not kidding, don't laugh!) We have guys American & Australian who are scouted by the University of Hawaii, who hold annual preseason Coaching clinics here and come armed with Coaching staff and Scholarships! We have quite a few American ex-pats now living and playing here, a competitive State League and National team. Mainly it's a great opportunity to study, work or simply holiday in Sydney Australia for a season than be noticed in a Rep team or nominated by Coaches or simply scouted at a Coaching clinic - easier ticket to school in Hawaii, possibly mainland. The exchange rates favourable, the weathers warm and the women are hot and will love you! Any large University in Sydney can help, try Uni of Sydney, Uni of Technology Sydney, Uni of Western Sydney or my team West Sydney Pirates, try the website; wspirates.com Cheers Mate!

They go to the NFL and get paid or try out for the CFL or Arena football. If that does not work, they have to find a job elsewhere.

It all depends on your skill and whether you qualify academically. Size is important but skill is much more important. If they dont offer a scholarship to you, dont be disappointed. Just try and become a walk-on. Some walk-ons become very good and even make it to the pros. Good Luck.
