This may not work for you but it did work for me so you can concider it as an option.

First I identified where I lit up most often. For me it was leaving buildings, when I got to certian stop lights in the car, first thing in the morning that kind of thing.

Then I went to the local Herb/health store and I bought a package of tobacco free cigerettes. There are many kinds. The ones with Coltsfoot in them are best as Coltsfoot will help you to clean your lungs out. Note: they will NOT taste like a cigerette you are used to smoking. Do not expenct this.

Then I went and had lasar therapy for the smoking. The first time I did this it did not work. The second it seemed to work much better.

After leaving the lasar smoking place I was of course rather agitated because I was 'losing a long time friend' tobacco. So I pulled out a herb cigerette and lit it up. God it was awefull... LOL a few days of these though and I found I could live with the taste. Then I did things like I would avoid the places that I normally lit up. Or I would do things with my hands as I came out of buildings. When I got up in the morning I changed my routine a little. All little things like that helped me. I still feel to this day that the thing that helped me the most was those herbal cigerettes.

Also a few things I noted on the addiction.
1) if you could put off lighting up for 10 minutes then you would likley not need to do it any more. the desire goes away very quickly
2) You will find there will be bad times for you. times when you are ready to give up. They will be pretty standard times. Something like 1 week, 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months 1 year 18 months and so on. Do not believe because you have gone almost 2 years you are free because you are not. I have not had a smoke since 1991 and I still to this day have cravings and sometimes dream about it. But it becomes rarer and rarer. And the cravings become much easier to deal with.

You can do it. find a way that works for you and give it a try.

If you failed is quite normal, it can require some time before you stop smoking. Now you are asking a very good question ...which is the best and fastest way to quit smoking? Finding the right answer will help much to succeed.
The answer is very simple: the best and fastest way is following the example of someone who already give up by asking him how he did and then do the same; this is a very good strategy...
But probably you already know a way to quit because you did it also if just for a period of time... so you have to ask yourself another question how can I do not start again to smoke?
I have stopped smoking more then 10 years ago and today I feel free. I also feel involved in helping other people to succeed and give up smoking.
I suggest everyone to follow this path
1 Get the right mindset
2 Learn a technique to stop smoking
3 Learn how to not start smoking again
Hope this can help you ... read more on my blog and ebook

If you have pain in your chest when you smoke that is very helpful in keeping you on track. You may not have that pain, but keep thinking about the pain you do suffer, the coughing in the morning, or whatever. In other words, when you think about cigarettes think about the negative. I did quit cold turkey, but that was the only choice back then. One trick I found very helpful was to make a habit of not buying or carrying cigarettes, and if somehow I did get some throwing them away. (this works with liquor too). Obviously, you need to not be bumming cigarettes either. Think about how cheap and foolish you are to do that. The thing about not buying cigarettes is that the buying is at least a little painful so that is a good place to intervene if you start back up again. Likewise if you have started again and feel disgusted that is a good time to throw them in the stove (I have a wood stove) and then if you want more you would have to buy them. You just set up a steady negative wind... Good luck! You'll be feeling a lot better in just a few months.

Get an old milk or water container. Put a little water in it. Put your butts in the container. Pick your day to quit, and whenever you feel the urge to smoke, open the container and take a whiff. That's what you smell like when you smoke.
Good Luck.

I have failed also. I quit once for a year and once for 8 months. I have heard many theories so I will pass them along....drink lots of water....distract yourself from your normal habits of when you like to smoke i.e. when you get in the car you usually light up, use a sucker instead or diet coke or gum...don't let anyone smoke in your house...And I actually had a friend who did laser treament said it worked great.

Good luck!
