Building your own website does not have to be difficult.
Start by going to http://geocities.yahoo.com where you can use your current Yahoo ID to get your free web space.
Try using their free Page Builder. You can upload your photos, insert text, and drag and drop the elements of your web pages into place. The free Page Wizard has many great templates that can be used to make an interesting page in minutes. Just insert your content.
It is not necessary to learn HTML (hyper text markup language) like the pros. There are many fun and interesting additions you can play with until you find what is right for you.
I began my own website http://TaoBarbie.com many years ago by using Page Builder and other free things from Yahoo Geocities. The site has grown and evolved over time and I have learned HTML and Java since then.
You don't need a domain name to get started. You can add that later when you come up with a great idea for a name. Until then, your web address (URL) will be http://www.geocities.com/UserName. When you get your domain name, you can forward all the traffic to your site.

There are templates available everywhere on the net. But I suggest you first learn about HTML, then move on to either Java (client side scripting) or PHP(server side scripting).
You can use any text editor (notepad, MS word, etc...) to create and html file. Same is true for PHP files. If you want to put them on the net, you need to put it on a host machine, that is where your files are physically located. You also need a domain name... the one that goes like "your.website.com", your host should be more than happy to accomodate you. Just check if the domain name is available and pay for it. You can also turn your own PC into a host machine, but then you'll have to pay a DNS server. Anyway, it's just best that you look for a suitable host provider and buy your domain name. You can try experimental domain names for free on free webhosts, these free webhosts are usually advertiser supported, you can turn off the advertisement when you start paying for the service.
BTW, what does your liver disease have to do with the question?
