as long as the engine didn't overheat and had oil in it idling for 6.5 hour would not be a problem.
But idling for long periods of time can cause damage to the catalytic converter, so if you are now having power loss problem have your catalytic converter checked.

First of all, I can't understand why you would idle a gasoline engine for 6.5 hours. But seeing that you did, are there any signs of mechanical problems? I'm not sure what exactly you're asking.

As long as the car didn't overheat, I don't see any problem for the most part. If it overheated, then there is a chance that the thermostat could be damaged.

If you used 1/4 tank of gas, that's not bad. I wouldn't complain too much about that.

If you're not showing anything abnormal in your motors performance, I wouldn't worry about it.

I don' t think keeping your car idled for 6.5 hours would damage the motor. Only, you wasted 1/4 tank of gasoline without getting nowhere. Why didn't you just turned off the engine instead kept it idle for so long.

The car is probably fine - I would fill up the tank however.

Good Luck!!!

If you're wanting to know how to use less gas then get a tune up. Go to Jegs.com and look for tune up parts for your car.
