how do i list my web site in yahoo so that it is in top ten when somebody searches?

i want to use yahoo to advertise about my website more effectively. Can anybody advise me? Also which is the best possible way to list my web site in yahoo and google. Can anybody help me with this pls. Thanks..

it's big business, and it isn't cheap, but search: search engine optimization Truthfully any underhanded trick that gets you to the top, may also get you banned. The key is to have content and link-backs. If you can get people to link to you in thier sites, then you look better. I'm not saying have all your friends link you, but develop the right connections. Content means give your visitors more than just ads, give them something your competitors don't.

Most search engines dont work on keywords anymore. Also they keep changing the specifications slightly so that no one company can constantly hop to the top. I have found that the more external web sites that actually link to your site helps more than anything else, links are counted by most search engines, and they will class 'real' sites as those that are most linked to. There are lots of rumours and talk about getting your site high, there are lots of people who will claim to be able to do it for money, but it never works. If you sell mobiles (for example) you will never beat Nokia, or Samsung etc. Now of course most people do spend, and they buy Google ad-words campaigns. (I do) I would have to be honest and say that without some sort of spend, you are unlikly to ever get near the top now

the way the new search engines rate the results depends on links from other sites. External sites link to you more, then you move up. very simple but you have no contrrol over it.

Get into yahoo adverising which is pay per click. It puts you on the top but you have to pay.
