I've done the following, and the history still shows up in my address bar!

1)Tools > internet options > general > clear history > yes.
2)Tools > internet options > general > delete files > delete all offline content > ok.
3)Tools > internet options > general > delete cookies > ok.
4)Tools > internet options > content > autocomplete > clear forms & clear passwords

What else can I do aside from re-format? I accidentally went to a website I don't want my kids to see (FYI www.whitehouse.com won't get you to the US gov't... unless I typed something very very wrong!)

you dont have to lie, everyone likes porn. my advice.... DELETE INTERNET EXPLORER and replace it with FIREFOX. dont reformat thats completely excessive. or you can just not give a ****, your kids are gonna look at porn either way. if anyone asks blame it on spyware or something... but seriously... use firefox as a browser... i cant beleive there are still people out there using IE

First of all, the Whitehouse isn't a COMmercial organisation/COMpany, so of course www.whitehouse.com won't lead you to the GOVernmental site --www.whitehouse.gov will.

Second, we've probably all looked at our share of porn on the Internet so you needn't come up with an excuse for wanting to erase your viewing history. It's cool.

Third: the program CCleaner will clean your harddisk pretty well. Download it here: http://www.ccleaner.com/

PS: I second the advice that you should replace IE with Firefox. You can get it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

when it comes to computers try restarting the computer then doing all that. try also, control panel- make sure you are in category view, then click performance and maintanence, then green arrow (clear space on hard drive). it will compress old files, then delete everything, this wont clear history but it will at least clear the picture off drive,
next step is to have seperate accounts, one for you, (password protected) tell them its so they cant change setting by accident, tell your wife the pass word, then if anything like this happens again your side will be affected, not theirs,

Re-format? Why? All the information is inside the registry ;>

You can search the regisrty for the www.whitehouse.gov or whatever and erase the key.

Still don't see why so paraniod here. Maybe you're on to something good steering your kids clear of THAT site, lol.

remove ie and start using opera. it's better than firefox and ie. also, opera works 4 times faster than ie.
