This is very absurd liberal reasoning, and it's the way a lot of young dumbsters of this day and age think, because they've been brainwashed.
Marriage is the way God meant for it to be, and living together is for the irresponsible, the selfish and the clueless.

Religious nonsense aside, there are some practical advantages to marriage - such as various legal and inheritance issues, taxes, health insurance, finances, etc. These may or may not be important to you. Also, consider the "social" benefit: you won't have to spend the rest of your lives answering a stupid question - so, why aren't you married yet? Society doesn't do well with ambiguity; cohabitation is ambiguous, marriage is not. Again - this may or may not be important to you. I personally feel that being married *does* hold people together sometimes, and makes them take their partnership more seriously; I have heard couples say that they would have split up long time ago if they weren't married - but being married made them work through the hard times instead of throwing in the towel. I myself like being married, it makes functioning as a couple much easier; it would have taken us many years of living together to send the same message to the society that we did by simply signing the marriage license. To give one example of what I mean: I was invited, along with my husband, to a meeting with my husband's future business parter and his wife; I would not have made it to this meeting if we were merely "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" - unless, perhaps, we had been together for years and years. However, now that I'm his wife, it is automatically assumed that I have a say in his business decisions. It simply makes it so much easier to not have to constantly "prove" ourselves, fighting an uphill battle. Yes, it is true that divorces can be expensive and difficult. But I choose to bet on the positive, not the negative. Why spend my life preparing for the worst, and not enjoying the best because of it? Some risks are, for me, worth taking.

When you are married ther is such a senergy that happen(when you are with the right person) that just drives u to be better, tha drives u to try harder , that drives you to be who you really want to be to is unmistakable. Marrige brings u to the place that makes you complete. SORRY TO BE SO CLICHE. but it's true.
When you just live together u are to afraid of commitment and are trying to give yourself a way out. Which really means you are secound guessing you relationship.
When you are married you have decided that know matter how much you piss me off or how much we mess this life up we are in it together. We will make it Know matter what.

When we get married, we are saying to the world....I am making a public commitment to the person legally, mentally, emotionally. It also protects you legally at the bank, car insurance, etc. Or worse case scenario if something happens to the other person and they end up in the hospital, don't you want to make medical decisions for them????

It is the people who have the same views on marriage who either never get married or get married then end up divorced. I'm married and have never thought about marriage the way you do. I guess if that is your attitude on marriage you shouldn't get married....or you havn't found your soulmate. :**( and maybe someday your thoughts on this will change.
