The diaphragm muscle is responsible for controlling your breathing, contraction and expansion of your lungs and rhythm. Sometimes the rhythm gets interrupted and the diaphragm 'skips' in an attempt to correct it, thus we experience the 'hiccup'.
The best method of speeding up this process is to consciously control your breathing by inhaling and exhaling a little slower and longer and maintain a uniform duration for each. You probably will have some hiccups during this but be vigilant, then suddenly you'll realize, hiccups are gone! :-)

Massage and pinch both ear lobes at the same time ! I am a dedicated sceptic on most alternative cures but this method actually does work ( to my amazement ) . Prob something to do with acupuncture pressure points

any solution that people type on here has been busted by Mythbuster. Only time will work for the hiccups.

Drink a cup of water without breathing, and try to hold your breath. This always work for me.

Simply hanging upsidedown usually helps. It's better than getting water logged drinking all that water.
