It is important to do B.ed because here techniques of teaching are taught. Besides this, one should have a flair and desire to teach or else it becomes a bore to teach almost the same thing year after year. But if one is interested in teaching, with the basics learnt from B.ed. one could develop further and teach better. But with no knowledge of teaching and just the interest would only make the teacher and student bored of each other.

B.Ed is necessary only when you wish to teach in the school level. I think, in the University level, you need to pass the NET / SLET to become a college lecturer. Of course, PhD is often given preference over B.Ed in higher classes and University Level.

To become a school teacher u can do B.Ed but to become a lecturer u either need to clear the state level test for lecturership or take up the UGC exam to recieve an all india permit. The above two exams can be written part time while studying, but incase u feel that u want to earn a degree and at the same time attain the post of a lecturer u can do M.Phil. So, its either u do M.Phil or take up the UGC or the state level test for Lecturer ship

Yes if you want to teach upto 10th classes B.Ed is must. In case of higher classes you should must have a master's(M.Sc, M.Com, M.A. etc.) or Professional degree (MBA, B.Tech, BHMCT etc) or Doctorate (Ph.D or D.Phill) with >60% marks to become a teacher(Lecturer/Professor). For government Institutions/Colleges you should be NET qualified or can be selected through State/Union Public Service Commision only.

No. You must do your PG, then an MPhil.Pass the NET conducted by the UGC. With all this you can be a lousy teacher. You have to be good at communication skills, and utterly committed with total mastery over your subject. Facing a live audience of vibrant youngsters is a wonderful experience, but if you are not competant enough, it can be a living hell. All the best.

It depends upon your topic. You should be at least knowledgeable on the topic that you are to lecture on.
