if its not union good luck. and i would recommend her thinking twice about putting things in writing. she could remind them (as she probably did) that her availability does not include weekends and they hired her knowing and agreeing to that. maybe she would be wise to ask for her application and make a copy of it for her records to show what her availability was. i dont know if that will help her if she needs it to fight in court or unemployment. i know the feeling tho and i wish her the best of luck. employeers sometimes forget they dont own their employees and their employees dont owe them their lives. maybe she can ck w/her local labor board to see what they say about it. again, best to her and nice of u to be looking out for you mom

It depends on how she was hired. Most hires are told Mon-Friday with possible weekends or as needed. That is the trick when hired and they ask is there anything to keep you from preforming your job or something like that. If at that time she said no than she is relying on the kindness of her boss to get Saturdays off. I have another job that requires weekend work and I was upfront with it. So if we have overtime I am expected to work extra hours at night Mon-Friday
She could write in detail why Saturday work is hard for her. extra babysitter, other commitments and so forth. But if it is just because she does not want to work Saturdays for no valid reason she may be out of luck
