Valentines Day is coming soon. The problem is that I don’t celebrate Saint Valentines Day but if I don’t get my girlfriend anything she will get mad at me. She has hinted to me what she wants and said she would get me something. What should I do?

Do something nice for her on feb.13th. That way you can stick to your rules and please her at the same time.

You have the right not to celebrate if you don't want to. You have the right to not be manipulated into doing something you do not want to do. And if your girlfriend is going to get mad at you over something petty like Valentine's day, you have the right to evaluate whether this is a relationship you want to continue. Yes, she has the right to have you give her something if it's that important to her. You both have the right to talk about it and compromise. No one HAS to do anything. And yes, to the previous answer, Valentine's Day CAN be against your religion. Many religions do not celebrate secular holidays. That may not be your situation, but it should be clear that some people choose not to celebrate everything that's considered a holiday.

Why don't you celebrate? Had some bad past experiences? Think it's too commercialized? Phooey. If it's the past, leave that behind and create something better with your girlfriend now. If it's the "Hallmark holiday" syndrome, then do something homemade, make dinner, take her to her favorite amusement park, something that'll show you care without being typical.

Man up and get your girl something. What is this "I don't celebrate the holiday" nonsense? Go and get her something nice and don't ruin the most romantic day of the year for her.

Swallow up your pride and get her something anyway. It's more important to keep her happy than to have her mad at you. Pretend it's not a holiday and give her a card and flowers.
