Whenever my family and I meet a new dog, they invariably go straight for my dad, tails wagging in joy. They show absolutely no interest in my mom or me even though all of us are dog lovers and none of us had attractive or repellant chemicals or whatever.

Dad is the lead dog and the dogs know it, all dogs want to friends with the lead dog.

Did your dad grow up with a dog as a pet? If you treat a dog, or any animal for that matter, with tender loving care, and respect, and they can sense something "special" about you-tenderheartedness or something, is probably why they go more for some people than others more easliy. Several years ago, I was at a neighbor's house visiting to see the mama dog, and her pups. They were in a room in the garage. The mama dog and I went outside, I talked with her, telling her she had beautiful pups, and she took my hand in her mouth-not hard, but I could tell something was up-so I followed her back to her pups-one of them had somehow gotten caught in an old refrigerator-that thankfully was empty and not plugged in. Thankfully I was able to get her pup out of there safely. Not trying to "toot my own horn", but sometimes there is just that "something" that they can sense about a person. Take care.

Dogs can sense peoples level of comfort and excitement. They can also sense who is relaxed. They will go were they are most comfortable and this may be with the person who is the calmest.

Some animals just seem to know who they can connect with, on a deeper level. We, as humans, know who we would and would not connect with ... and so can some animals. Have you seen the movie "The Horse Whisperer"? Excellent show. I have the same effect with animals ... don't take it to heart, it's just that some people can connect with animals more so than others. :)

dogs sense the goodness in people and the shifty people, trust youre dog there usually a good judge of peoples charachter

dogs know some people more than humans do...they can sense some things we dont know...... some dogs just like sertain people better
