Not a good idea to wear any jewelry into a hot tub, especially sterling silver, but no it is not a dead piece of jewelry, don't freak out. It is basically tarnished. Have you tried rubbing it with one of those mitts for sterling silver or dunking it in sterling silver polish? if those don't work, bring it back to Tiffany's and I'm sure they can clean it up for you. All of Tiffany's jewelry has the name on the back and is registered, and they have a great customer service policy about fixing things. One of the good things about shopping there. But be careful in the future when going into the hot tub, I've had problems with gold, don't worry, you aren't the only one to do things like this. Don't call yourself an idiot, you aren't.

It's tarnished basically by the sulfur compounds found in minute amounts in water, turning the surface into silver sulfide. Silver polishes can take this tarnish off. I find that Tarn-X, a liquid into which you dip the necklace, works well and easy. Be aware that tarnish will come back some day, even by just wearing sterling silver. Keep it away from sulfur-containing compounds such as eggs. Expensive sterling silver items may be rhodium plated to prevent tarnish.

No I don't think it's ruined. It just had a reaction to the chemicals in the hot tubs. Most big stores like walmart, target, etc will sell a dip able silver cleaner. It should bring it's shine back. There are silver cleaner pastes but but on a chain it's tough to get it all the paste off the small links.I have a lot of acid in my hands and when I wear silver it turns black.Silver cleaner brings it right back to new.

In her communicate of techniques at the same time as she says: "The athame represents mind, i do not use mine a lot." There are different authors purely as undesirable as Silver - undesirable historic past, undesirable good judgment, questionable ethics, a opt to water each thing all the way down to meaninglessness.... she's purely better prolific than maximum which pulls quite a number of ire from those those who're severe about our faith and do not decide on to confirm it misrepresented.
