Usually electrics have lower strings and are easier to play. This is because acoustic guitar have thicker strings since the thicker the string, the louder the guitar...which is a plus when you're at a campfire, but sacrifices playability.

Well the tone is different but no not really. When you amplify it though you can change the tone and volume levels and effects.
There are electric acoustics though also.
