Sure, but it is important to remember there are degrees to which someone can be an ally. For example, the US and China are getting along quite well when it comes to trade, but our military goals are quite different.
The most notable former allies are probably Afghanistan and Iraq. We liked the people in power in Afghanistan before the Taliban. In fact, we helped them fight off the Soviets in the mid-80s. We fought alongside Osama bin Laden, who, while he is not a country, was an ally at that time.
In Iraq, we supported Saddam Hussein and gave him support during his campaign against Iran, who also happens to be a former ally before the Shah was removed in 1979. Saddam Hussein fell out of favor when he attacked Kuwait for oil.

Well... France helped the United States significantly in our Revolutionary War, giving us what would in modern days amount to *billions* of dollars in aide, and then the US helped France and England in WW2, and yet when France suggested that perhaps we were being hasty in attacking Iraq, half the country started talking about what ingrates they were, and changing the name of French fries to Freedom fries. I'm pretty sure we still count as allies, but we sure don't treat our friends very well, especially when they express an honest disagreement.
Viva la France.

Iran used to be our ally before the mullahs took it over in 1979. Since then they have pretty much been our enemy.
