Saw this this morning on yahoo. Is no one else questioning how officials payed to do such things couldn't dig and find out about an image from a nationwide(world?) cartoon series that appears on shirts, etc? If these could be considered as bombs, wouldn't the blatant iconography and placement automatically suggest a deeper search before assembling a field crew and closing roads, etc, to take them out like "normal" bombs? Wouldn't have taken more than asking locals to uncover that these signs had been up for some time. Doesn't that raise questions about whether the item is dangerous? I see alot of the same mindless babble I did after 9/11 about this, an event which at the time shocked me not at all because I LIVE IN THE WORLD. Bad things happen, and turning into a police state will not solve them. Although, to police the world you kinda have to be a police state. War on terror. yeah! Hoping these 2 guys aren't sacrificed. rdy for flack from the 9/11 comment, prefer topic. ;p

It's been around other cities for a couple weeks or more. I think boston is just too uptight. Besides if terrorism was to be commited, it wouldn't have been in such silly taste. Attacks are made through mundane behavior, not some cartoon character sticking up the middle finger.

It wasn't theirs to place stuff on. In geocaching we have a rule that you never place anything without permission of the owner, in this case the city. We also never place near transportation structures because of the alarm it will cause.

Don't be arrogant. I'm in the media and I never saw that cartoon character before. In fact, most grownups are too busy to watch Cartoon Network, ever.

In principle you are right, but they should have placed the devices in less critical locations. I've done stuff like that, and you have to watch your giddiness level carefully and not get too jazzed up. You get to thinking about maximizing visibility, rather than avoiding getting caught.

they had electronics,
if they would have hung posters it wouldn't have been a big deal

Most adults don't watch cartoons, why would they know anything about this?
