RAM compatibility issuse. Both wafers should be from the same manufacturer and of the same type (PC2100, etc.) eMachines are a pain in the ***, trust me, I'm using one that I am in the process of rebuilding.

This could be either a ram stick malfunctioning, the ram being incompatible one with the other or the ram brand is incompatible with your board, anyways, take your pc when you're buying new ram to test it, unless you've checked it out on Kingston.com that it'll work with your pc previously before buying it.
I'd rule out a loose ram stick cause it wouldn't start up if it's loose.

I do recommend Kingston :P

Cheers

Check to make sure you put it in correctly, Emachines are proprietary systems, if you arent using the correct type of memory you will face compatibility problems. Find out what kind of PC it is such as eMachine and model # then find out exactly what type of Ram it takes such as SDRam pc133 and or DDR pc 2700, or 3200.
