Why not children's crafts? You can always get a small table at a local flee market and sell them. You can also make a homemade sign with some letters backwards to spell out, KID'S ART using the bright red, blue, yellow, orange and green. There are lots of people out there that can relate to that. The craft supplies are sometimes very inexpensive. You can get him some frames from the dollar store (they do sometimes have very nice ones) and frame anything he may paint. Get him/her some posterboard to make other cut out, or 3D art and frame it. You can get popscicle sticks and he could glue together a cabin and you can put it on a piece of balsa-wood and have him paint grass, stand up bushes and trees. Just simple inexpensive stuff. I watch a lot of HGTV and buyers from one of the Hollywood studios were wandering around and saw some kids art done by a woman, such the same, and they bought everything she had. It wasn't even that great, but it looked like it was for a child's room.
Anything that kids put together today sell good. Give it a try. They also have kids art and craft web sites. Just Google it or in Yahoo search.
Good luck

Maybe by helping your parents sell stuff they don't want or need (like junk laying in the garage or attic) on Ebay.
