79-85C is way too hot! Should be 50C or less.

Sounds like you have a fan/heatsink that went out or is not working right. If you're good with hardware, open up the case and see if the processor fan is running. Another possibility is that the thermal paste between the heatsink and the processor has gone bad.

Hello you might try getting official help on www.geekstogo.com or geeks2go.com (I can't remember exactly which one.) My laptop also restarts on its own. So I downloaded a temp software last week (speedfan from http://www.filehippo.com/download_speedfan/ that someone on the above mentioned message board suggested.) YOURS IS TOO HOT. My laptop runs about 35 C. They said above 50C was too hot. So if you have a desktop pc, you might try upgrading the fan inside your case. It shouldn't be a major ordeal, but your harddrive is overheating and continuos use such as that will cause it to fail prematurely. Your pc might have a safety device that detects high temps and cuts it off too soon. While your in there, it wouldn't hurt to simply snap in another memory chip (maybe a 512mb) upgrading the processor would be rather expensive, so in that case fix the fan in this pc, and buy another pc (no need to upgrade peripherals each time to keep the costs down.) as a temporary fix, try going to a discount store and but a little clip on fan and put it next to your pc's ventilation in the back and let it blow away from your pc removing the hot air inside. Keep and eye on the temps and watch for restarting. Good Luck

If your using a laptop and you've tried new thermal paste, cleaning your fans and limiting your process, i would try taking out your battery and running it without and check the temperatures. A bad battery with give off an ample amount of heat and cause the computer to overheat.

Hope this helps

Not heard of a PC reboot itself because of overheating, but shutting itself off completely yes.

I have heard of Trojans and or Virus cause a PC to continually reboot a PC, also hardware issues including memory. Good luck!
