I know you asked for no responses, but it's not called Yahoo Comments.

I agree with most of what you said. The silent majority, as you already know, agrees with most of what you said. The problem is finding the candidate that can manage to be electable that will still hold the majority of these views.

The problem seems to be that the silent majority is not always as consistent as we would like. Even though they may agree on the bulk of items, many people have a position or two that divides them. That seems to be the role of the press these days, to divide and conquer the majority by playing up the ways we disagree more than we agree.

One person that comes to mind would be Newt Gingrich to me. However, he certainly comes with his own baggage as well.

My angst is that I am so tired of seeing most politicians being led by polls instead of convictions.

Anyway, hope you aren't too mad that I posted after all, if you made it this far.
