Fear is a useful emotion. It helps to keep us safe. We are wary of a situation because of a small level of fear. So it is not a bad thing to have. However when we attach to much significance or allow a fear to grow out of proportion, it can have a serious, if not devastating impact on our life. But all fears can be dealt with and managed with proper support and focus.

Fears are caused by the most basic human instincts, to survive and reproduce. Back in the good ol' days, when we were making fire and wheels, and Michael Jackson was actually his/her skin color and gender, Humans slept at night because they feared the dangers that the night brought.

Strange and unrelated it may seem , there seems a direct connection between fear and pain. Also , I think, we have to distinguish between fear and insecurity.
I believe that recall of memory with respect to pain suffered by people we have seen make us "fear" as we feel that we will have unbearable pain. It is this pain syndrome that initiates fear.
In the case of children who seem to fear unknown places , darness etc. it may be the cause of insecurity.

If we didn't have fears we wouldn't be able to predict dangerous situations. It is part of self preservation.
If we didn't have fear we wouldn't look before we leap.
Think before we speak. Sneak before we peak. Keep quiet when we shouldn't speak. And so on.........

I believe that fear comes form lack of knowledge, lack of faith. We don't fear things, situations or people that we know how to deal with.
Tell me what you think?

Sometimes more deeply embedded than we care to admit...but yes. I like to take that time when it begins to creep up on me and read scripture. It helps me with new insight.
