There are many reasons. They are defined in part by the following: escape, retreat or vacation; military invasion - either instigating or escaping from; employment - your job requires it; diplomacy; a desire to see something new, beautiful, ancient, interesting and the like; research; all these and more are common and not-so-common suggestions that define the reasons that motivate people to travel.
