It wasn't so great because it was not what I had expected.

I've read it and loved it. Even if you have difficulties enjoying it straight away, a lot of the admirably rendered atmosphere will stay with you fort a long time. The desolation of the marshes Pip grows up in, the spooky atmosphere in Miss Havisham's burnt out shell of a life are just two examples for that.

I haven't read it. My 14 year old daughter, who is an honor student, stuggled through it this year. She had a very difficult time with this one. I did learn though that you can buy "Cliff notes" at Barnes and Noble that lay the story out in an easy to understand way. We purchased them for her and it turned night into day. They have cliff notes for TONS of things that are hard to understand when your going through school. I don't know if this helps but I hope so. Best Wishes.

One of my favorites! You do have to learn the Charles Dicken's manner of writing or it will be a tough read. I agree about the Cliff's notes if you need help.

Yes, I have read it and enjoyed it. I believe there's a deeper meaning to this book, and that's why it has stayed so popular over the years.
