Yes. The world has an obligation to oppose any force seeking the extermination of any race or country.
Iran and many muslims desire the extermination of Israel and jewish people.
Israel is a democratic country that shares many of our values and has even appointed a muslim to its parliament recently.
I don't see any muslim country that would consider a jewish person for any role in their government.

No, I don't think so. But the attempted extermination of the European Jewry, which also included many other people, established a milestone grading humanity in this supposedly modern times. It also pointed out the extreme danger of a totalitarian government under one person.
The world was supposed to have learned from these mistakes, but as you can see from Communism and the profiling of Venezuela's President Chavez, some sections of humanity never learn.

It is not because of the extermination of Jews in WWII. It is because there are people who want to exterminate Jews NOW.
For instance, Ahmadinejad in Iran. Palestinians and Saudis and I don't know what other nations, teach children in school that they should hate Jews. Israel has given Palestine 90% of the land they want, and they still won't make peace. They (the leaders anyway) want NO Jews around.

Israel was put there by the United Nations.
As usual, the United Nations is useless. But Israel contributes far more to science, industry, and the arts than its enemies combined. "By their fruits ye shall know them". And I'm a secular humanist. Go figure....

I believe the world has an obligation to side with any country that has shown the restraint that Israel has and to condemn the countries that threaten to annihilate any other country.
WWII has little to do with this opinion - we need world peace - and we'll never have it as long as there are demented dictators and leaders who believe it is their birth right to rule the world.
