Personelly two. One of them (my first passionate wild "Us against the world" sort of thing was a roller coaster. As I imagine most firsts starting at age sixteen until 24 more or less. The thing is we never completely severed ties. Each of us married other people. Strong opinenated poeple that don't allow themselves to be walked on or disrepected. Still both reconcilled themselves to the fact we would always have a bond, even after it became platonic.
It was not unusual for our spouses to find one or the other of us to drag the other 3 sheets to the wind to the closest house and offer couch to friend.
It was more then old driking buddies, Time was irrelevent. I remember due to silly things and fail to appear for court a couple times. Short version me sixty day lock up. On que (though Shocked he even knew where I was living) He came to jail to deposit $$ in my canteen, yet never visited, so not to take away a visit from my husband. Again we lost touch for a while, yet when his mom died I stayed at his side for about 2 months. You may have noticed my referring in past tense; as he died last summer.
Yes I am aware that in the death of some one so close, my judgement is based on pure grief and emotion. I'm sure you can read between the lines, "If this was a great true love why did you each marry different people? Well we were bad together. We brought out the worst in each of us, while without a doubt we'ld each lay down our lives or the other. Now of course I loved my husband, our marriage was more healthy and sane.
Human nature being what it is, as you revisisit history (especialy the gory days of invincable youth) The tendencey is to highlight in your mind all the great stuff and quickly gloss over the not so good.
So to your question for me two, yet I made a very deliberate decion not to date after marriage went south and we seperated. I did not want to expose my young daughter to me dating or any such a lifestyle. She is now 16 so who knows? I believe true love can come around many times if person is open to such possibilaties, and never make the mistake of compairing some one of/to ghost of your past. You will never forget a true love. Yet you must be open to the unequenence of each individgal and enjoy the moment. Nobody can compete to the big pedistal of past TRUE LOVES...Mary.

As many as you want! I've had about three or four!
Listen, it's mathmatically impossible for there to be only 1 perfect love for everyone in the world. You have an equal chance of happiness with many different people.
Why not play the field and when you find one that makes you not want to date anyone else anymore, then stay.

Give me an iron-clad definition of "true love", then I will be able to count better.
