Black women are raised with a healthier self image - they don't get weird about having some junk in the trunk.

Although anorexia nervosa is not common, affecting only 5 to 10 people out of every 100,000 people, it is a growing problem. Anorexia nervosa is more common in industrialized countries, where lack of food is not generally a problem and thinness is prized.
You are more likely to develop anorexia nervosa if you:
Are female. Although males can develop anorexia, it is rare. For every 10 females who develop anorexia, approximately 1 male does.
Are a white adolescent from a Western society, although people all over the world from all races and age groups develop anorexia.
Participate in sports or work in a profession that requires a certain body type. Examples include:
Athletes (such as runners, wrestlers, figure skaters, swimmers, gymnasts, or jockeys).
Models.
Ballet dancers.
Actors.
Eating disorders are complex, and experts don't really know what causes them. But they may be due to a mix of family history, social factors, and personality traits. You may be more likely to have anorexia if:
Other people in your family are obese, have an eating disorder, or have a mood disorder such as depression or anxiety.
You have a job or do a sport that stresses body size, such as ballet, modeling, or gymnastics.
You are the type of person who tries to be perfect all the time, never feels good enough, or worries a lot.
You are dealing with stressful life events, such as divorce, moving to a new town or school, or losing a loved one.
Anorexia affects less than 1 percent of the population. It is most common in:
Teens. Like other eating disorders, anorexia usually starts in the teen years. But it can start even earlier or in adulthood.
Women. About 9 out of 10 people with anorexia are female. But some boys and men have it too.1
Many people who have anorexia are white and come from wealthy families. But it can happen to anyone.

While the balance is starting to shift (greater percentages of african american girls are being diagnosed with anorexia), I think that white girls tend to become anorexic more due to the societal pressure. There is a lot of pressure both in white American families, and popular media (think Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, etc) displaying the ideal white girl as extremely underweight and waif-like. Whereas rap videos and prominent African American Women are being heralded for being "thick" and having a big booty. Genetics don't account for everything.... it takes both environment and genetics to make people who they are, neither are exclusive.

The majority of what we all see in the media are white people, and that also includes the people advertising for weight loss plans, pills, etc. You rarely see an african american woman on t.v. saying that she must get this weight off. check the back of magazines like cosmo, there are tons of ads focused on weight problems. check out a magazine like sister 2 sister, and there won't be ads like that in there. our mothers, sisters, men all tell us how beautiful our bodies are. many men say the thicker the better, so we exude natural confidence when it comes to this. i personally do not know 1 single black girl who has had anorexia.

In the black community being curvy is better accepted and/or preferred more often than not. So black women GENERALLY feel less compelled to starve themselves to get skinny, not much of an incentive.

That is not true at all. Right now the highest percentage of women with eating disorders is within minotity women, especially black women. We just talk about it less.

I am not sure. It seems like the women enjoy being overweight, and the men like them that way. I don't understand when it is attractive to be obese, but it seems like obesity and even morbid obesity is not only acceptable, but attractive within that race. There is a big difference between being 10 pounds overweight and having a larger behind, (which I have heard black men like) than someone who is 250 pounds, which in my opinion, is NOT attractive nor healthy within the white race.
