Civilization would be both stagnant and boring without diverse cultural contribution.

I would have liked to say peace and security but these are fundamental of human co-existence, and besides a person can defend himself even when not in a human society to some extent at least; then peace is the most promising promise that a society can make to the people who are part of it. I am not absolutely sure about this either as some people a solitary in nature and as a mater of fact congested life of a society can robe people of their right for peaceful living, just the hundred percent security is not guaranteed by any society.
I think the best thing in a society is respect and regard between people; the emotions that make people value their life; make them stand by one another in times of needs; something that make people progress as they see other doing the same. Yes, I think the best thing one can find in a society is honour, respect and regard in life, that is all for sense of belonging to a place.

Just those few balanced communities around the planet where people live in harmony enjoying existence. I think all the other negative examples of society are probably a necessity, though. Role on Nirvana.

Compassion, understanding and cooperation are the greatest things in society. Their common value is humility; the ability to be comfortable with the fact and knowledge that one is not the most important thing in the universe, no more so (or less so...) than any other one is.
