I see that a lot of people don't think highly of the UoP. But it is convenient for people like me who work full-time, so I was thinking that a Communications degree from there might be a good one to get. It seems like it would be more accepted, as opposed to a business degree from there.

Most people do think highly of the uop, about 25 percent dont, check around.Shaquille o neal pursued a masters from them.Im taking a class right now taught by the guy who started bill holleran communications.William holleran.Uop is also great for networking.Since you all keep downing the uop?why is it such a large private university ?Plus, other school skeep putting matierial online.Uop is not only an online school. They have on campus too .I attend uop and I've worked hard for my 3.5 gpa so far,the instructors are strict.Uop is not a scam, its real I've heard it several times.Do you think grown adults that average the age of 30 are going to spend money on something not worthwhile? We are dealing with grown adults people!Wake up!America... things are changing ,and things such as g.e.d's,distance learning, and non ivy league schools are becoming very popular, deal with it.By the way..University of phoenix is accreddited by the higher learning commision. The same commision that accredits arizona state. The same people that accredit the nursing program acredit howard unviersity. The point is all schools are compeating!Thats how they make money!Although phoenix is for profit does not mean they dont care about being strict.I had an instructor with a phd from an ivy league school that made me rewrite a paper 4 times. The instructors care and want ot teach you!Go to school period,i will be laughing at all of you downing the uop when i get out. Then eventually achieve my p.h.d.Thats by early 30's.Im ahead of some of these uop people who dont go back to pursue an undergrad or g.e.d until that age.Stop whining about what degree is good and what isnt,if you have accredation then atleast you have a chance...Just because you go to an ivy league school also does not mean a good job.You can be stupid but rich and get into harvard/yale.Wake up.

UoP is one of the largest private accredited school- if not the largest. I have been a student of UoP for over two years. The classes are fast paced but it it up to you to take the iitiative and learn. The teachers are there to help when/if needed. Before commiting to this school I did my research and I found this school to be one of the best. I don't understand why people down this school. Other universities have online classes and I don't see a difference. This schools has lots of ads and marketing do you really think that this would be allowed if the school was a scam?

I had an unfortunate relationship with UoP and I blame myself equally for the error in judgment. My counselor called me and caught me off guard. I was thinking of entering the Masters program at a traditional college when I received his call. He got 'very' familiar with me, we shared jokes, music, talked about a lot of things and then he hit me...I had to purchase a computer. I was literally 3 days from the class starting and I allowed this man to rush me into buying a computer, complete with the bells and whistles that I would need to work online, and then start school, order books and try to learn my way around their program. At the time, I was only using a cell phone - and you can image how expensive that got. In the meantime, I am grouped with people who live in different regions in the country and we had to establish time to be on the computer at the same time. It never worked! We all had responsibilities to fulfill and there would be times I'd be rushing in from work to sign on and 'they' would already be online - TALKING BAD about me.. "where is she?" "I''m not gonna do her work" and on and on it went. Needless to say - when you are typing a message, you really can't tell how the person is thinking or feeling and I was literally enraged. I would try to contact the teacher and would never get responses. If I made an error and typed in a message in the wrong group and it might have some personal content, I would get blasted by the teacher! (I had been ill and was trying to let the group know what was going on). I was so stressed out, and depressed and my illness got so bad, I had to cancel. Then they started harassing me to no end. I would never, ever attempt another class 'online'. I have learned that I am more traditional and need the teacher, classmates in my presence. I later discovered that even though they would give me my degree in Education, my state would not accept it because of the accredidation. If I had done my homework and research, I would have saved myself some real stress. In a nutshell - I hate UOP and everybody that works in that unit. I could go on and on about my experiences with the individuals, but I won't. Suffice it to say - it was a horrible experience and if anyone asks me I am going to tell them the truth AS I SEE IT - and of course, they have to experience it on their own.

A lot of better-respected schools offer online programs these days, and the schools are more focused on academics and less on making money. I don't think Communications would be any more accepted than Business from UoP.
