I was going to ask this question if the Bears won the Super Bowl, but just in case they lose, I am asking this question now.

Think about it this way. People are worried about the matchup that Rex Grossman has against the Colts defense, for crying out loud. Can you possibly imagine how many times he would be picked off going up against the '85 Bears- best defense of all time? There would be no way that the current Bears could score against the '85 version.

I'd like to say NO and EMPHATICALLY NO because that team and defense was so good, but the way the players have increased in speed and size over the last 22 years, you never know. You could say that for any team. I wonder how today's Houston Texans would do if there was a time machine back to 1985. You might be surprised. Again, the game has changed so much so stats might be all relevant to the day.

This is the kind of question I'd like to ask an NFL coach who played or coached in both eras. They would have first hand knowledge and expertise to answer this. All I know is that the 85 Bears were one of the most dominating teams ever based on what they did that year. Nobody knows for certain how dominating they would be in 2007. Probably really good, but I don't think they'd just be smoking people like they did in 85.

Of course the 85 Bears - since the '07 Bear team would be a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds.
OK - enough of being a smart ***.
The 85 Bears would beat either one of these teams.

I really think it would come down to field goals. Because the only way either team would score would be the turn over. Besides Payton the 85 team really did not have an offense either. Would really be fun to watch in Chicago with the snow BOWL

I cant believe the that anyone thinks that this Bears team is anywhere near as good as the 85 team. Thats why they wont beat the colts.
