cultivating respect for womenhood will lead to declination of crimes like torturing for dowry, rape, prostitution etc.
what can we do to elevate the minds of men from those bizzare thoughts concentrated around genitals, those who think women as instruments to gratify desire , to eternity.

As far as I can tell, people think women are inferior to men because of a notion that they've twisted from the Bible, the gist of which is since God created Adam first, men therefore have dominion over everything in the world, including women. Just watch any episode of the Maury show involving abusive, controlling husbands and you'll see what I mean. Also, some people just don't get that women can do just about everything that men can do if given the chance.

I agree that we should cultivate respect for womanhood. But getting some men to start thinking of women as something other than sex objects would require sweeping behavioral changes---except that we really can't change the fact that men are turned on by what they see, e.g. female skin. If we could rewire that (which may not be a moral or ethical thing to do), or at least turn around the idea that sex sells, society might be radically different.

Of all the peole I personally know, I've never experienced anybody looking at women as though they are inferior. I don't know much about your surroundings, but a general picture is not the actual picture.

The things that you are talking about - rapes, prostitution, dowry etc. are criminal offences. Thefts, extortions, murders etc. are few more criminal offences. And when compared to the attrocities against women, you will find these regular crimes in far more larger numbers. In this case would you summarise that men are being looked upon as inferior beings in the society.

Now let me explain about those three particular crimes that you claim are against women -

DOWRY:
Demand for dowry is out of greediness and not to degrade a woman. The woman is tortured so that her parents would come into action and meet their demands. This is similar to extortion. However the rate of tortures in dowry has decreased rapidly. Infact, the rate of demand of dowry has decreased to a good deal. We are in a healing process. It won't just happen in a snap.

RAPES:
Rapes are committed under 3 conditions.
1> The man or woman is desperate (Yes!!! Even women rape guys)
2> The man is highly aroused by the lady and then suddenly ignored. This hurts his ego and he goes out of control
3> Everything goes on well with each others consent, but the woman starts accusing man when the man turns down soem of her important demands.
Rapes donot occur because women are considered inferior but because a man can enjoy better sex with them.
I believe such men should be dealt with punishments to death without any sympathy so that another man thinking about raping someone would think twice. Mostly people are not afraid of the law as they find it extremely lineant.

PROSTITUTION:
have you heard that few prostitutes are gathering for the demand of get their business legalised. Don't these women have a respect for their values. How do they then expect others to respect their values.

I don't mean to offend women in any case. The are an important part of the society. All I mean to say is that women are not considered inferior at all. There are a few exceptions in every case and here too. It's the law who needs to deal with these offences strictly. Not only towards women but towards the whole society.

Also, for you kind knowledge, let me add some more details about attrocities on women. Most of the times women themselves inspire thier men to turtore the other women. A mother inspiring her son to torture his wife for dowry, wife inspiring her husband to rape a lady for revenge, a persons wife and his siter not doing well in relations and creating a havoc, a man leaving his parents because of his wife, etc.

I know a guy who eloped with a girl. They loved each other. They got married. After a few months the girls parents traced her out and filed a rape case against the guy. Hard to believe but the girl surrendered to her parents and made a statement that she was forced to marry the guy. Result - The guy had to bear few years of rigorous punishment. The picture to the people who don't know the incident as closely - "Poor girl!!! The Guy should have been killed."
Moral: Make conclusions with your own observations and not the general picture.

Anyways, your first statement is very perfect about cultivating more respect for women. But not only men, even women must cultivate respect for each other. In fact we must cultivate respect for each and every person in the society, be it a man or a woman, to build a better society.

:-)
