You may be able to get the needed software from palm. You do need the software to "Sync" the PDA to your computer. Ask the person that you bought the unit from if they happen to still have the software CD that originally came with the PDA. If not, contact Palm and see if there is a way that you can purchase the software CD from them for the Tungsten W. Maybe the PDA has simply "bit the dust"! I've had two palms that have simply "died" a Palm 72 and a Palm 31. Both were battery related. The Palm 31 wasn't even used that much. We were using them mostly for downloaded audible books. I am not impressed with the quality of Palm PDAs. That's one reason why we are switching to MP3 players for this purpose. The other is memory space. Maybe 4GB expansion card on a PDA vs. 30GB on the MP3! The MP3 does everything that the Palm 72 did except take pictures. We won't be buying any more Palms!

Yes, the info you hotsynced from your tungsten will go into your 680 when you hotsync the new device. Any palm that is not windows based (which the 680 isn't) just has a regular memo pad, not a word document pad. Hope I helped!

The Palm Desktop software is free to download from Palm's website.

http://www.palm.com/us/software/desktop/

This is required to sync with your PC.

If still nothing works out, post more info. What sort of error? What do you have installed? What is your PC's Operating System.
