The reason most women don't make as much as men is that most businesses are controlled by men, who are usually not trained from childhood by their male role models to be considerate of the problems and rights of women. Nor are they particularly trained to consider women their equals, notwithstanding the female acquisition of voting rights within the last century here in America. What is really astounding to me is that, with the population of the U.S. and probably most other nations being mostly women, why do women let men get away with this? Collectively women could bring corporate America to its knees if they acted in concert to boycott the products and services of those businesses which practice wage discrimination against them. And guess who the majority of consumers are in America? You got it, women!

As for the second part of your question, it wouldn't make any difference whether the president of the U.S. is a man or a woman. Federal law stipulates that the president now be paid an annual salary of $400,000 dollars. It makes no mention of the gender of the occupant of that office. In fact, if some miscreant attempt were made by misguided members of Congress or others to pay an incoming female president less than provided for by law, there would be an instant firestorm of protest from a host of civil rights and women's organizations like the ACLU and NOW.
