Methinks you speak of Mario Bava's Mask of Satan aka Black Sunday...probablymy fav horror movie of all time.
It stars scream queen Barbara Steele in a dual role as the witch who gets branded...then 'masked' in the beginning of the movie...and the princess one hundred years later when the witch is set free accidentally...and can only come to life if she takes the life of the princess.
Classic, moody, atmospheric horror at its best. Totally cool.

Maschera del demonio, La (1960)

Do you mean Black Christmas? 1974 film about a sorority house stalked by a deranged killer starring Margot Kidder, Olivia Hussey, Andrea Martin, John Saxon and Keir Dulea. They filmed a remake in 2006. Very scary for it's time. I've not heard of a scary movie with the title Black Sunday, however there is a movie about a terrorist attack on the Super Bowl from 1977 of that name.

"Black Sunday" was made in the 1970's and was about a terroist plot to attack the Super Bowl with a shrapnel-laden explosive device in the Goodyear Blimp
