You are gonna need two cables..the output thing on the pedal goes to the amp...the input one goes to your guitar...turn on the bloody amp...click the switch on the effect pedal in question...Play while Hot!!!

Connect one cable from the guitar to the peral, and a second cable from the pedal to the amp. If you are hooking up more then one pedal get those double ended plugs and hook them together in a line, it might take some looking for those, they are kind of hard to find but they are the neatest.
I would hold off on getting more then one pedal for now since you sound like a beginner. Make sure you sound good with out a pedal before you start using one otherwise you are just covering you mistakes up with distortion and people will notice.

The pedal simply plugs into the cable. It comes with a second cable to plug between the guitar and itself. It's quite easy.

they are called 1/4" plugs! You typically need two. One to run from your guitar to your pedal and one from your pedal to your amp...
