It is given to help you retain the lesson/s that have been taught. School work is helping to prepare you for the work world, that society has said is necessary for you to advance.

You need to do your homework. You may not like it, but tough. Life is hard, so get used to it. Just wait until you have a mortgage, bills to pay, trips to the store, laundry, car payments, etc... Need I go on? If you think it's tough now, give it another ten years. You had better do your freaking homework, get an education, and get a good job because the last damn thing I want to do is support more people who are on welfare because they didn't do their homework when they were kids!

Hey,
Because the teacher's purpose in lifeis to kill you with their homework and work. It's their mission . But, think about it,The more they gave, the more papers that they have to grade . Plus, the more you write , the more they read. But, at the end it really kills them when they grade more than 200 papers a day.

How come we have 6-7 hours of school

Because teacher have a mean streak and don't get that 7 hours of work a day is enough and decide that they want to make us do 8 hours of work everyday only leaving about 2.5 hours to our selves...

i dont get any homework in high school. all the work i get assigned i either finish during or at the end of that class or before school in the cafeteria eating breakfast or just get a friend to lend it to you, copy it in your other classes then just give it back to him. jesus this is all vital info you should know by HS....lest youz a sucka. i get maybe 4 homework assignments a week... only one of them taking 1hour+

Reinforcement of the lessons learned in class but sometimes teachers go overboard. When I was in to 6th grade it took me from 4pm to midnight stopping for dinner only to finish all mine as it did every other student in his class...

You're at the wrong school. If you feel like there's too much home work then you either can't do it or there really is too much. Either way, your teachers aren't teaching properly and you need to change schools before you become an idiot.
