Look into using RNAlater.

If you keep your tissue frozen at -80C you can extract for up to six months usable RNA. I would not suggest this, Trizol is a good reagent and is pretty cheap. Invitrogen sells it and it is the standard for RNA extraction. Once in Trizol RNA in tissue is protected from RNase completely and you can store this at -20C for a few months but really want to store at -80C. You only have to disrupt/homogenize the tissue and Trizol will lyse the cells if you repeatedly pipet the liquid. Range from $100-200, depending on how much you buy. The RNAqueous is from Ambion, they tend to be more expensive but their products are much easier to work with since they specialize in RNA applications and are a one-stop shop for it. If you have the money Ambion can make RNA work very simple, if not like the rest of us go with Trizol.
