I love the idea of being a movie animator, but no one seems to think that movies are made that way anymore. All the programs I looked at were for computer animation, and that's not really what I want. Do people actually draw things for movies now? Or is it all done on computers? Thamks.

There are still schools that teach animation the old-school way; that is, by doing it manually with a pencil or brush. Consider inquiring at the JOE KUBERT School of Cartoon and Art. You might find a course on Animation that you can take via correspondence.

Yes, people still draw for movies. Movie production needs sketches for costumes, set designs and storyboards. But if you want to work in an animated film, your best bet are those direct-to-video movies or the ones you see on TV.

Of course, you must know how to draw and draw well. You must also be fast because your main job will be as an in-betweener (someone who draws the movements in between poses).

Hey I'm new at this too. I did just join a group dealing with anime and magna we are now tring to build a site for this(I have a qestion on here that explains a little. once its done I'll ask another about what people think of it and what people want to see more of)first figure out your streghs(do u draw or write)then see how much people like it. I don't draw but I am good with character profiles and I write things that will incude drawings of anime.( the question to search if intersted is" Hey anime fans need some help could you please" or just "hey anime fans" in that EXACT order)

most animation is done somewhat on the computer, but I would say learn to draw and do some art classes, then get into production of movies and learn the bizz a little and take programs for animation
