My all time favorite is Breaking Benjamin but some other good ones are Eve 6, Linkin Park, Blue October, Brand New, Fuel, Stained, Rooney, The Used, Chevelle, Lostprophets, Falling Up, Snow Patrol, Third Eye Blind, Switchfoot, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Anberlin, Amber Pacific, Papa roach, Plain White T's
Thats mainly what I can think of without knowing what exactly that you like but hope that gives you a start. Even though some of these really are alternative theyre still pretty good

It really does depend on the type of alternative music that you like to listen to. There isn't really a genre set specifically to "Alternative". There is Alternative Rock, Alternative Christian, Alternative Pop, and etc. I suggest you ask a friend that shares your music intrest.
