It has the basic ingredients but it needs to promote the arts within, among Singaporeans first in order for the arts to grow and thrive.

It needs to involve a greater percentage of its own populace who have generally prioritize the sciences, rather than the arts, as first-choice education for the youths.

The 'problem' I see with Singapore is that huge efforts are geared towards developing the country solely for the promotion of tourism/economy - this is laudable and essential no doubt. But don't you feel that if more Singaporeans would to be more inclined towards the appreciation of arts, it would be in itself a natural promotion.

Why do Latin Americans, Africans have such musicality about their culture? These cultures music and dances have been fused into popular western music, hence globalised. While those of the Chinese, Indian, Malay stay parochial with virtually no influence whatsoever. Worse, these ethnic popular music have been influenced wholesale by western pop music and culture.

It takes only money to build the stage. It takes more to imbue a people with the arts.

Definitely, such a diverse melting pot for all of the Asian trade routes. The city is quite beautiful and extremely clean. The panorama vistas of the harbor should not only inspire art but be a magnet for artistic display. JMO
